Located amidst the historical charm and cultural richness of Kyoto, our home provides a serene and contemplative environment conducive to artistic exploration and expression. Surrounded by the timeless beauty of traditional machiya townhouses and the whispers of centuries-old history, residents will find themselves immersed in a world where past and present converge in harmony.

834 Mibu is self-funded, and individuals who wish to stay outside of a residency program can privately book the space. Private bookings enable 834 Mibu to sustain its presence and offer a residency program to international photographers, publishers, curators, and artists. Private guests will have access to the curated library of books, and occasional work will be exhibited by artists; please check the calendar for details.

Our residency is situated in a peaceful neighborhood south of Nijo Castle and north of Mibu-dera Temple. 20 meters from our front door is the newly renovated Nishiki Bōjō Children’s Park. We are a 5-minute walk to the local Sanjo shopping street and a further 5 minutes to Nijo Station.

Extended stays are preferred, and guests wishing to book for longer than a week should contact 834 Mibu directly.
